Another great episode. Looking forward to the special guest.

Awesome podcast. Thanks for keeping it up!

Thanks for the podcast. I'm excited to listen. I have a new theory about the show, don't quite know all the details. You are all patients aka "candidates" in a mental institution, and the MIB guy is the thing in your subconscious you should not listen to and need to get over. The flash sideways are your life after "treatment".

Dudes, what a great podcast. I was in need of a new lost pcast and yours is great. What a mindbender to listen to y'all talk about the script pre-shooting and then get post-viewing comments to boot! It is a special treat that I hope all lost fans can appreciate. And SK22, you are totally better than SK21, if I must say. Can't wait to hear this week's take on Evil Sayid.

Are you going to get shirts made up with that GJB logo? Its awesome!

Sidekick22 -- your voice does bear an uncanny resemblance to Evangeline's. I hadn't thought about it before, but now that someone brought it up, it's pretty funny.

I agree with Jorge -- that Dharma was most likely drawn to the Island via Jacob, and there is some Numbers connection there.

I had the same feeling as the fan letter about the Numbers bringing Hurley to the Island. It was one of Jacob's many convoluted methods to steer people towards the Island. With Hurley, he played on his paranoia and belief in bad luck.

re: the Richard Alpert thing. Awesome that you whipped out the script!
At this point in time, I'm thinking they made Richard that way because it was an idea they had that never panned out. Later they probably decided they should just have Richard look the same way he always does and "forgot" about this one instance.

Kate did NOT tell Claire that Aaron was with her mom, fyi, which I thought was a pretty glaring omission on Kate's part. My thought on Claire not remembering abandoning Aaron is that she's been fed lies over the years by ghost-Christian and the MiB. Also that it has something to do with the enigmatic "infection" in which you don't really remember everything (Sayid only seems to remember events up until being shot by Radzinsky).

Now that you guys have seen the episode, did you think it was hilarious how Ilana & Co. burst through the door like the A-Team? That was so goofy!

Can't wait for next week, keeping my fingers crossed the guest is somebody like Terry or Michael.

I like when you guys read parts of the script, it makes watching the episode again more fun. Chop, chop to the neck!

Dogan's ball was probably signed by Babe Ruth! Haha, that was good stuff!

I hope Beth has seen Cool Hand Luke by now.

Just wanted to say that the rat videos are PHENOMENAL. Strong work.

Petra said...

Beth, FWIW, you don't sound like Evangeline. I can understand why people might think so, as you have excellent diction and a hint of "up north" to your accent.

I bet Dogen's baseball was signed by one of the Boston Red Sox. LOL

Just out of curiosity, why does Sidekick use an alias when most of us listening, I think, know her identity?

Unknown said...

Beth, I totally agree about Keamy being very Christopher Walken! I said the same thing to my friend and then I heard you say it on the pod cast and started crackin' up! He even had that hollow look around his eyes that Walken gets... crazy. Also... rat video's were HILARIOUS!!!

this podcast rocks. really looking forward to finding out who the guest star will be!

we just got rid of a rat problem in our house. big ones that would survive the traps like you were talking about. we had the most sadistic exterminator, too. was kind of disturbing. we got two cats now though, so no more rodent problems.

Other random thoughts about the podcast as I sit here and listen:

So glad the tsunami fizzled out and everyone was okay! I've often wondered what I would take with me in an emergency like that, so it was interesting to hear what you took. You mentioned you went to Ken's place. Ken Leung?

I left my previous comment about Beth's alias before listening to the podcast where she said her real name, but I'm still curious as to why she chose to use a nom de plume.

Disappointed that Beth is not Evie? No way! If you're just talking about a simple level of hotness, Beth wins, hands down. (Hope Evie's not reading!) And the two of you have a great chemistry on air.

My guess for the guest star? Vincent!

Consequences be damned! I'm glad you guys are just charging ahead. But you do a good job about not releasing spoilers, so I don't see why it would be a problem.

"What's Jabberjaw?" Aw, man, I must be old, too!

I really liked the "Just Watched It" segment at the end. Nice follow-up.

Never noticed that it was rainy outside the Temple and sunny inside. I'm sure someone out there has a theory about that. LOL

Thanks, guys!

@shortguy457 - geronimojacksbeard@yahoo.com

@jason - we've got GJB merch up at cafe press. the link is on the front page.

@Ben - nope, still haven't seen it

@spaceaudiobooks - a fan gave me that name once because of a shirt i wore and i just like the sound of it. it's not to hide my identity from anyone. it's just nickname.

@katelyn - see! i knew i wasn't the only one who thought that. jorge thought i was crazy at first.

Just listened to the podcast and I have a theory about the Dharma supply drop that someone asked you about. My theory has always been that these were dropped many years ago when Dharma was still active on the island. Something went wrong with the drops though and they came in at the wrong angle so they ended up landing on the island in a different time period. Similarly to how the Doctor's body washed up on shore before he was even killed on the freighter.

Guys-you rock! I can't wait for your podcasts and enjoy my lunch here at school listening! The day it is "up" is the day I skip the teacher's lounge! Good stuff! I wondered if the scrip calls for some of the weird stuff fans catch such as the change in photographs when Miles went up the stairs and then down the stairs to first speak to the dead.....did the script call for you to wear that RED shirt? I am totally bummed about that, you know, I hope it is just to fool us who are used to red shirts meeting their end! I am an old lady of 64 who thinks you two are a darling couple and I am pulling for you! Beth, I'd give you a run for your money if I were many years younger!

I'm sad to see Dogen go but still not as sad as when I found out his name was not pronounced "Doe Jen."

I always hear "It's DOE JEN (Slow Gin) Time Again" in my head.

I got 2 shirts of gjb at cafe press and they are really nice! I gave one to my neighbor and the other one is for me. Thanks for the podcast! But more importantly, thanks for all the entertainment you 2 are providing.

I said the same thing about Keamy! He's totally Christopher Walken! I think they should play father and son in a movie. It'd rock. I love Christopher Walken.

We love you Beth and Jorge! You're so flippin cute together!!!

Sundown was a bloodbath, so that Rat Incident fits in very nicely.

Beth, for an HP connection, MiB tempting Sayid with dead Nadia reminds me of Dumbledore and others being tempted by the Resurrection Stone.

I LOLed over the "Idiot!" too. One of the few times I laughed in this episode; soooo dark. That stage direction about what Lennon heard was pretty funny too. In a very morbid kind of way.

My favorite part was probably that terrified look on Ben's face at the end.

I just listened to this and your last one, so I forget which one mentioned it, but I've been wondering about Richard's hair situation in Man Behind the Curtain too. Very curious.

Do either of you like Gordon Lightfoot? Some interesting connections drawn between his song "Sundown" and the episode here: http://thehogshead.org/lost-sundown-you-better-take-care-4555/#more-4555

Ha ha ha. I loved the Jabberjaw reference. There is no way you are older than me, but I grew up watching him. Brought back some memories.

OK. I just watched the rat saga--great internet viewing. you guys need to get yourself a mongoose or two!!

You are both so fun to listen to. I love your reactions to the scripts paired up with your reactions after the show has aired. I like the little "shout-outs" to Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Jabber Jaw (that one made me laugh out loud). This podcast has become yet another part of my LOST experience.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this for LOST fans!

If you haven't seen it already, here is the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life: a music video of clips of Hurley with "Party in the USA" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0O9NVCVMwo

Not related to this episode at all, but I was re-watching the pilot and had an idea: Is it possible that Vincent has been dead/Vincent has been Jacob the whole time? He seems to be watching or leading the characters into important plot points quite often.

Also, Ryan G says hello! - Megan from Anaheim, CA

*Love* this podcast! Such LOST fangirl and to have an actor on the show (beloved Hurley, no less) and his trusty sidekick give impressions of script to a post-episode commentary is a treat.

Thanks for the insight offered, the funny references and let's hope your guest next 'cast has half as much charm as you both have.

In the Lost Supper picture, all the characters aligning with the "Man in Locke" are to Locke's right so far. Does this mean that Jin gets away?

BEST. PODCAST. EVER.

On the subject of voices, Jorge sounds a bit like Bob Dylan without the 50-a-day habit.

We always get a crack-up over the rat vids. Thanks for the smiles.
My only problem is...a week is a really long time to go in between podcasts. Is there anything else you could do a podcast on? :-)

ever listening,

Hi guys,

I've just seen your 'teaser' on twitter, "Dr. Linus. Paging, Dr. Linus. Please report to the Geronimo Jack's Beard podcast immediately."

If it's not too late, can I ask Michael if he meant to say R.Widmore during this interview with Jo Pinionated? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTgZk3Vr3Qk&feature=player_embedded

As I mentioned to Beth over the weekend on twitter, your podcast gets better every week :)

looking forward to the next installement even more now

FanTAStic episode tonight. I posted on my own blog that an Emerson or O'Quinn episode, with some Garcia for comic relief, makes for an awesome hour of television, and this did NOT disappoint. Jorge, you were unspeakably perfect, particularly in the scene inside the Black Rock. And, may I say, Michael Giacchino is a prince among men.

I am chomping at the bit for the next podcast. Thank you both, SO SO much for doing them!

What are you guys doing to attract all these rats? Are you guys running nightly showings of Willard?

BTW, you can put up thicker screens (try hardware clothe, 1/4", it should keep them out. Pay someone to build frames that fit over and can be screwed on. Then when rat season is over you can remove them and stack them away. Perhaps you can get your landlord to build them.

BTW I'm not sure if I agree with Jorge, I think that FLocke can't be killed. I think this might be the entire reason for the Island to keep FLocke confined and out of trouble.

FLocke is destroying (or converting) candidates to prevent them from taking over for Jacob, which will again give that candidate the ability to trap FLocke.

I think that if FLocke gets off the Island things will go bad for everyone alive, which is why Richard said "He wants to kill EVERYONE you know. He wants to kill EVERYONE" (or something like that)

Lastly, I think that Miles is an anti-Hurley. I think that Miles is willing to do anything for money, and FLocke will give him an ultimatum, do something bad (perhaps kill Hurley so that he will have no voice), or FLocke will kill Miles, or prevent him from ever getting off the Island. He would never be able to cash in his diamonds.

Miles can hear dead people, he is skinny, he greedy. He doesn't really seem to care about anyone and little seems to effect him.

Hurley gave away his money (or tried to). He is 'girthy'. He sees dead people. He cares about the people around him. Things/people/events effect him.

Jorge, give Hurley this message:
Hurley, watch out for Miles! Don't trust him!

Sorry for the excessive length.
