Here's a pic of the shiner Ian accidentally gave Emerson, two days after it happened. It happened early in on in filming the episode and you can see it throughout both the off and on island scenes.

OH! It was the well? I took a taxi to Diamond Head and ninja-scoped out the studio in January, and was like "WTF IS THAT???!" I thought it was the pit Juliet got sucked into. :(
I noticed it was kind of green around his eye on the island, but Ben's been through so much I thought it could be a bruise from any time! That looks like it definitely hurt. It's a little pretty though...I like purple.

I noticed the shiner during the show and thought they had done a superb job in make-up. I'm going to have to go back and watch that scene over to see the shot that nailed him. I always feel sorry for Ben because he takes such a beating on the island all the time. Sawyer too for that matter. Has there ever been a time where we haven't seen at least one scab on Ben's face?

I noticed the black eye in both the on and off island scenes and thought it was weird that he had the same black eye in both places--I thought his parallel universes were merging and that was some kind of hint towards the colliding of worlds in the finale, like the nick on Jack's neck. Turns out it was a real shiner from filming! Poor Emerson.
